We are aware that there are innocent people spending time in prison for something that they did not do. One only needs to read the newspaper or watch television in order to hear stories of DNA evidence proving the innocence of a convicted person. We all know that on occasion people are untruthful, and this can occur in the courtroom when a witness intentionally lies, or offers an opinion as fact. In some instances, witnesses will withhold information that is helpful to the client due to personal embarrassment, their own involvement in the incident, or for personal gain.
Each Lochmoor Investigator is a former FBI Special Agent, and is well versed and familiar with the criminal justice system, both at the local as well as federal levels. Our investigators have each testified dozens of times or more in criminal court proceedings, and are aware of the flaws that are frequently uncovered during court proceedings.
Our investigators will work with an attorney to review a case, starting with the police report and thereafter speaking with known witnesses, looking for discrepancies in their statements. In addition, we can conduct an independent investigation to determine if there are additional witnesses who have not been identified to the police or prosecutors.
Our staff includes former FBI personnel who were trained as forensic examiners and evidence collection experts. We can review the evidence collection procedures used, looking for flaws or errors which may have occurred, resulting in a flawed result.
Our investigators have extensive training and experience in interviewing. This highly developed skill can result in the discovery of new, helpful information when witnesses are re-interviewed. By developing a rapport with the interviewee, the investigator may obtain helpful information that was not mentioned during earlier interviews due to embarrassment or reluctance for many reasons.
Lochmoor Investigations can locate and interview witnesses, providing the results to the defense attorney, thus more fully preparing the attorney during trial preparations.
